In the article “Take Two Hours of Pine Forest and Call Me In The Morning” It talks about how in Japan a being in the wilderness is a “standard preventive medicine here” why you might ask well… “People come out from the city and literally shower in the greenery,” our guide Kunio explained. “This way they are able to become relaxed.” This is where my project come in, as I was sitting at my desk thinking of all the things that could go wrong in my project, it occurred to me that there was a simple solution. What if I could come up with proof, numbers that show that I am wright. So i decided to start gathering people to come in and go for a fifteen minute relaxing walk. Before the walk they would fill out a scientific stress test and I would take their blood pressure, I would then repeat this at the end of the walk. I decided to test these two things because through my research i have done in the past week I have learned that spending time outside likens to the decrease of stress, and more balanced heart rate.
So far in this project we are on track. We have gathered some participants for our study, as well as set up a meeting with the Junior teaches to plan the camping trip for next year. I have also read many articles relating Neuter deficiency in large range of people. Through the past week I have realized how much work I am taking on. This has been a struggle, but I have learned that I just have to take my project step by step. I know that even if this project is not perfect I still tried my best. The next step to my project is to complete my tests and start gathering people to interview as well as film for the documentary. I will also be meeting with the Junior teachers next week, as well as conducting the tests. I am worried that I will not have as many test subjects as I would like but I believe that I can gather more if needed.
