What I did
Through this internship we learned how help preserve land, and why it is important to do so. We learned these things through collecting data in many areas. Through mapping trial on the land to so what could no longer be in use for recreational usage, and show how it could be open to the public. We mapped out the different bios to find how diverse the land is. Took biotic surveys to see how diverse the plant habitation is. This also showed how things where starting to re-habitat the land from its previous usage. We also looked at the water purity and learned how it was starting to re-develop it previous natural water filtering abilities.
Reflection
Through this internship I leaned that I am decently tech savvy. I never imagined myself being the one that could understand and use the technology as well as I did. I also was able to keep a positive attitude even during the times that wasn't doing exactly what I wanted to be doing, but thats not new for me. Over all I am very proud of all the connections we made through the process, how much I leaned and how deeply I leaned to care about conservation of land. I am very proud of the maps we produced to show the bigger picture of the land.
Through this internship I've learned a lot about myself, and what I want to do throughout my life. Through collecting the data to create our maps, I have learned how important each aspect of the land is, and how to read it to find out its past, and potential. I have learned how much I care about saving the land, and how important it is to save it for more than recreational reasons. I do believe that someday I would like to do more work in this field. I have had some challenges, being that this internship did take place in one of the busiest parts of the year. I didn't feel as though I could give my hundred percent, and wished that I could have been more present throughout the project. We also struggled as a group to figure out what we wanted our final project to be, because we were not sure where the internship was going. Turd the end of the internship, everything started to click on why we where going with this project, witch made me more passionate, and engaged. In the end I am proud of the work that we did, and would love to expand my knowledge in this field someday preferably moor in the political realm.
