During this project I struggled with time management, and last minute change. I struggled with time management right up to the last week of the project when I joined with Maya, and Brianna. I leave that the presser of trying to show/ impress other group members gave me the pressure to sit down and work out exactly what I needed to do and when. I also struggled with last unit changes. Because of my motivation decreasing thought the project I would make major changes to try to boost my enthusiasm. I later released that this just set me back, and set me up for failure in the future.
I found through this project that pursuing something I love will benefit me. Thought school I have been assigned many projects that I dislike greatly. I started to believe that I just didn't like work. I thought that life consisted of being lost around to do something that you didn't want to do, or didn't enjoy doing. Through this project I learned that this is not the case, that you could have fun working. You just have to pick something you enjoy. I think that every school should pursue this project. I leave that the 20% project is rewording and an eventual part of learning for high school students. I believe this because through this project you learn about yourself greatly, swell as learn that school ( Popsicle stick projects and busy work) is not what we should be preparing for we should be learning skill like time management on our own, because in when we have a job our boss will not just give us warnings when were off task. If we don't complete the project that we are given then we get fired. I also think this project is essential for students to have a slims of what the would like to do after high school.

Since the last blog post I have accomplished a lot. My group and myself have interviewed people downtown, which is not easy. We also went to smelter to with Kennan to film us doing yoga. I than incorporated this into our video. Maya and Brianna then created a script to put to the video, we recorded this and then I edited the video footage and audio recordings of interviews and script. We have also been working on emailing the campsite, transportation for our camping trip. Overall our project is coming together finally, and i'm really excited.
The major challenges I have faced are getting ahold of the camping, and transporting people. Because they have jobs and this is not their main focus its hard to get a ton done. I have also struggled with making the video because of how the audio of the video footage was recorded its hard to make them clear and loud with minimal background noise. I have learned a lot. I have learned about yoga, communication, and working with groups. I have learned yoga from Maya, she leaded us through a routine. I thought this was really cool and helped her practice her leadership skills for the camping trip. Communication with other people is hard, I have learned more how to word emails professionally with clarity, as well as word them so we have minimal emails as possible. Working with groups has always been one of my weaknesses, this is one of the reasons I thought it would be good to combine projects with Brianna, and Maya. through this project I have learned more how to effectively work with other people. There have been a lot of changes in the past few days in my project. I have learned a lot from these changes, one being that accomplish a project on your own is much harder than you could expect. After talking with my peers I have discovered that they had the same struggles. When we realized this we decided that putting our projects together would benefit us and the people that the project is made for greatly. We then we grouped up we obviously had to learn about each other's projects as in depth as possible.
Since my last update I have accomplished alot. I have gotten ahold of Navajo lake in order to make reservations. I have also grouped with Maya and Brianna and connected all our project in a realistic way that makes use more excited to finish the remainder of the project. I am running into struggles because of the major changes we have made to our project, but I am confident that this will work out in the end. Hello blog readers(aka Stephen) Today we had a gallery walk of our project. Other students from the school came into see what we were doing for our projects.I was most surprised by how many people didn't know what nature deficiency disorder is. I realized that my project could actually really benefit people, and will raise awareness, which makes me really happy.
My project has slowly but surely been coming along. I can know start to see the results which is really exciting for me. I have started my video and am about a minute though. I have also locked down a date in which we will be going camping, and a place(Yay). The challenges I have faced are coming up with how i'm going to get the 12th graders to navajo lake for orientation. I am also struggling with what, and how i'm going to make my video stand out. My next step in action is to call navajo lake to make reservations, as well as find how we are going to get everyone there. I have learned a lot in the past couple of days. Did you know there is a genre of music called inspirational. I have also learned a little about video editing. I have also learned how hard it is to collect things from teenagers, and organize events.
Since the last time I blogged I have completed a lot. I have decided that i'm am going to create a video to inspire children to spend more time outside. I then collected ski, bike ect… footage from my peers, and started to put it together with an inspirational video. I have also come up with a destination spot for our camp spot, and am currently trying to lock that in. So far in this project I am feeling pretty good about what I have completed, and how much I have left. A few things have gone wrong one being at one point I didn't know what I wanted to add to my project other than the camp trip, so I had to brainstorm, and push through that. As Well as getting all the teachers together. My next step in acting is to keep the video footage coming in and put together, and make reservations for the camp destination. This week I have learned a lot. But the most impotent starts with a quote my mom always told me “Lilah you eyes are bigger than your stomach” I have learned that this statement is sadly way too true in my life. I overestimate everything in my life, from dance to school I think I can achieve more than I actually can. But this time I am convinced that I can accomplish this project, I am dedicated and don't want to fail.
So far I have gotten all the Junior teachers on board for a camping trip next year. I had a meeting with them and we all agreed that it would be an awesome opportunity for bonding and reconnecting with our pears. I have also started my testing, fifteen minute walks. The biggest challenge I have faced is that my partner decided to go a different way in her project, which I completely understand. This has been a challenge because I am slightly more stressed but I believe that I will be fine because I have so many other people supporting me through this project. My next step is to start planning the camping trip as well as figuring out what i'm going to do. If i'm going to follow through with creating a documentary or going a different way. In the article “Take Two Hours of Pine Forest and Call Me In The Morning” It talks about how in Japan a being in the wilderness is a “standard preventive medicine here” why you might ask well… “People come out from the city and literally shower in the greenery,” our guide Kunio explained. “This way they are able to become relaxed.” This is where my project come in, as I was sitting at my desk thinking of all the things that could go wrong in my project, it occurred to me that there was a simple solution. What if I could come up with proof, numbers that show that I am wright. So i decided to start gathering people to come in and go for a fifteen minute relaxing walk. Before the walk they would fill out a scientific stress test and I would take their blood pressure, I would then repeat this at the end of the walk. I decided to test these two things because through my research i have done in the past week I have learned that spending time outside likens to the decrease of stress, and more balanced heart rate.
So far in this project we are on track. We have gathered some participants for our study, as well as set up a meeting with the Junior teaches to plan the camping trip for next year. I have also read many articles relating Neuter deficiency in large range of people. Through the past week I have realized how much work I am taking on. This has been a struggle, but I have learned that I just have to take my project step by step. I know that even if this project is not perfect I still tried my best. The next step to my project is to complete my tests and start gathering people to interview as well as film for the documentary. I will also be meeting with the Junior teachers next week, as well as conducting the tests. I am worried that I will not have as many test subjects as I would like but I believe that I can gather more if needed. In the past day it has come to my attention that Nature Deficit Disorder is an actual disorder. Nature deficit disorder is the side effects of the children that have stopped going outside, resulting to behavioral issues. In our 20% project we have been given the freedom to research and create our own project. Because I am a very outdoorsy person and strongly believe that the outdoors is something everyone should be apart of, I would like to rase awareness of the fact that being in the outdoors is lessing as wile population is still growing. That is why I have decided to create a documentary showing the beauty of the outdoors and how it benefits the individuals. At the end of this project I plain on creating at trip for my hole grade for boding and the pure enjoyment of the outdoors that some of us may not have the resources to enjoy.
